HR Consultant

At HGHR, we believe in building people-first workplaces where culture, compliance, and creativity go hand in hand. We're on the lookout for a seasoned HR Consultant—a well-rounded leader who brings both heart and expertise to the table.

This role is made for someone with 6+ years of experience who can confidently navigate the full HR life cycle, operate as a strategic advisor, and collaborate directly with founders, CEOs, and small business leaders to design thoughtful people strategies that drive impact.

We’re looking for someone who can nerd out on policy and process—but also knows how to energize teams, curate culture, and elevate every touchpoint in the employee experience.

If you’ve been the go-to HR brain in a small business or startup—and you know how to make HR feel human—we want to hear from you.

Who You Are

  • A people strategist with a sharp eye for both people and process

  • A confident HR generalist who thrives in both structured and scrappy environments

  • A compliance-conscious culture builder who believes policy and people can coexist

  • A clear, empathetic communicator who isn’t afraid to speak truth with kindness

  • A self-starter and advisor who can lead independently but thrives in collaborative partnerships

What You’ll Bring

  • 6+ years of experience in HR consulting, generalist, or HRBP roles

  • A deep understanding of the employee life cycle:Recruitment → Onboarding → Engagement → Performance → Development → Offboarding

  • Hands-on experience with:

    • Policy creation & employee handbooks

    • Employee relations & investigations

    • Benefits administration & total compensation strategy

    • HR compliance (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, etc.)

    • Leave management & accommodations

    • Workforce planning & organizational development

  • Proven success partnering with founders, CEOs, and executive teams

  • A strong ability to balance strategic thinking and tactical execution

  • Experience supporting small businesses, startups, or fast-growing teams(Bonus if you’ve been the “HR department of one”)

What You'll Do

  • Act as a trusted HR advisor for our clients—offering guidance, structure, and solutions rooted in both best practice and real-world experience

  • Audit, build, and elevate HR systems, policies, and processes

  • Navigate complex situations with empathy and professionalism (ER cases, conflict resolution, policy gray areas)

  • Support leadership in building competitive, equitable total compensation strategies

  • Lead initiatives that enhance the employee experience—from onboarding refreshes to performance frameworks

  • Keep clients compliant and forward-thinking—without making it boring (no dusty policy binders here!)
